Now that we have branching snapshots, the ability to simultaneously run multiple instances of the same guest, including the ability to run separate instances from different starting snapshots, would be ideal.
As a work-around, the ability to "promote" a snapshot into being a new guest, which could then be run alongside another guest, could work.

I would love this functionality, creating a base install for all future images (guests) would be a huge benefit.

As far as I understand this was fixed with the introduction of linked clones (see here). Closing as fixed.
