Windows 2003 Server Guests BSOD on new VirtualBox 3.1.2

Description

Upgraded from 3.0.12-54655 to 3.1.2-56127 on Ubuntu 9.10 x86 and all my Windows 2003 Server virtual machines have become unstable. They start but after doing some work on the desktop for a few minutes like trying to run a MSI installer they BSOD.

Repro'd with Nested paging off, PAE/NX on or off and VT-X on or off. Confirmed disabling of VT-X does not fix this problem.

What I see:

  • BSOD with PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050
  • BSOD with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT stop code 0x0000001A (0x00041284, 0x77F3F001, 0x000000000, 0xC0502000)
  • A corrupted distorted green particle screen appears and the VM locks

Previous version it worked in virtualbox-3.0 3.0.12-54655_Ubuntu_karmic 3.0.12-54655_Ubuntu_karmic

New version it broke in virtualbox-3.1 3.1.2-56127_Ubuntu_karmic 3.1.2-56127_Ubuntu_karmic

Running on a Dell Latitude E6500
