Vbox hard freezes my system with VT-x enabled -> update BIOS

Description

When I attempt to enable/use VT-x on a virtual machine my system hard freezes as soon as I attempt to start the VM. My CPU supports VT-x (3.16Ghz 45nm Core 2) and it is enabled in my BIOS.

Additional information: Gentoo Linux, Linux iodine 2.6.28-gentoo #2 SMP PREEMPT Sat Dec 27 12:21:55 GMT 2008 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux VirtualBox 2.2.2 OSE.

At the risk of being 10 months late.

Yes, the problem was still an issue. After various attempts at getting it to work (I tried different host operating systems, a different CPU, etc, etc) I finally got around to flashing the BIOS of my motherboard. This fixed it.

Anyone stumbling upon this may want to consider doing the same. (Although there was no mention of VT-x support in the BIOS release notes.)
