Description
Hi All,
When I click the "X" in the upper right of my virtual machine's window, I am given three
options, "Save State", "shutdown", and "power off". The first two are harmless. The "power off" can cause damage to the guest OS. And, "butterfingers" here is always pressing the wrong button. This is not a fault of the software by my own "klutz" factor.
Would the developers please consider adding a two step process to the power off function?
Maybe a prompt to the effect of "Are you sure?". This would save my ever loving careless ass. Consider it a "Human Engineering" enhancement.
Many thanks, -T

I think recent VirtualBox versions implement the proper mechanism. Default is ACPI if the guest is currently supporting this.
This is not what I requested. ACPI is power off. I want an "Are you sure" prompt to keep fumble fingers from powering off the computer by accident.
Also, it would be nice if the default was "save machine state". That way a goof would not harm anything.
This is a "Human Engineering" enhancement. Also a kindness to your users.
Many thanks, -T

Did you really check how the current mechanism works? ACPI powerof is a nice way to power off the VM. And the dialog remembers the last choice you did.

Replying to frank:

Both of these are good news. Thank you!
Now back to my problem: if you can not find the ACPI's "Nice" function, would you please consider an "Are you sure" prompt. Consider it a human engineering upgrade.
Many thanks, -T
