Ticket #1571 (closed defect: wontfix)
Windows XP SP2 guest BSOD on upgrade 1.5 => 1.6 (PIIX change)
|Reported by:||magnusg||Owned by:|
Me and a collegue has been running Windows XP SP2 since aprox. a year back. When upgrading to Fedora Core 9 from Fedora Core 8 and from the VirtualBox 1.5.6 to VirtualBox 1.6.0 we both encountered a blue screen failure in the Windows XP guest telling you to run CHKDISK. We did this without any success.
Selecting IDE controller type PIIX3 instead of PIIX4 solved the issue. The problem can be recreated by selecting PIIX4 as IDE controller type.
- Summary changed from Windows XP SP2 crash on Fedora Core 9 x86_64 host to Windows XP SP2 guest BSOD on upgrade 1.5 => 1.6 (PIIX change)
