4.3.4 and 4.3.6 not working on Windows 8.1 x64

Description

None of my VM's will start up with VirtualBox 4.3.4 or 4.3.6 on my Windows 8.1 x64 system. I've uninstalled that version and installed 4.3.2 and my VM's work just fine. 4.3.4/.6 gives some error about not able to locate a kernel, regardless of the guest OS (Windows or Linux).

Please attach a VBox.log file for at least one of those guests which didn't start with VBox 4.3.6 otherwise we cannot help you.

I found no vbox.log files for today (when I was trying this again). So, I uninstalled 4.3.2, rebooted, installed 4.3.6, rebooted (none of these asked for reboot). Now, 4.3.6 is launching my VM's just fine. I'm unable to reproduce this issue and do apologize for taking your time in this. Perhaps in my prior attempt when I simply ran the installer for 4.3.6 (since I followed the link from the upgrade dialog box that shows up when VirtualBox is launched), something didn't get uninstalled from 4.3.2. I think restarting the computer between uninstalls and installs prevented this issue, even though at no time did either setup program request a restart.

This can be closed unless you are going to look into the upgrade installation to see if it reproduces.

Thanks for the update. As it's nearly impossible to guess what the problem with your installation was, I will close this ticket.
