Hi, I need to use parallel port in my virtual machine, but virtualbox doesn`t support it. It`s that possible in the future?
Thanks, Karol Sikora

Thanks for the answer. I`ll wait for this possibility... I know c++ slightly, but if I have received indicators, I would try to help.
(Sorry for my english if I have done mistakes, but I learn it for 3 months...)

I too would very welcome parallel port support, caused by some dongles needed to run some applications.

Please!.. i need parallel port support. I had to install qemu to work with the port, but this goes very slow

Is valid this?
<LPT>
<Port slot="0" enabled="true" IOBase="0x378" IRQ="4"/> <Port slot="1" enabled="false" IOBase="0x378" IRQ="4"/>
</LPT>
My VM don't work.

Hello !
Please count me in too. I would really appreciate to be able to use my old but still fully functionning Artec scanner on my Linux box. And it has only a parallel port.
Thanks !

Hello,
I have dongles for software licensing, new PCs don't support older windows versions so I'm using virtual box to run those applications, I hope VBox support parallel port on a near future, thanks!

Hello, I also desire this feature (specifically for updating firmware on printers).

Is the offer valid for Linux (host) too? (I know some there is some support for LPT in Linux already, but I need it for an Aladdin dongle and it does not work right now). Let me know if I can have a Linux test version... I'd be happy to test it.

These fixes are part of VBox 4.2.

As I've learned from the changelog, parallel port passthrough is enabled only for Windows hosts.
Should separate tickets be opened for Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris VirtualBox versions?

Well, there was no answer, so I'm reopening this ticket.
BTW, there's no much info about LPT ports in the docs.
8.8.1. General settings
The following general settings are available through VBoxManage modifyvm:
<...>
--lptmode<1-N> <Device> Specifies the Device Name of the parallel port that the Parallel Port feature will be using. Use this before --lpt. This feature is host operating system specific.
--lpt<1-N> <I/O base> <IRQ> Specifies the I/O address of the parallel port and the IRQ number that the Parallel Port feature will be using. Use this after --lptmod. I/O base address and IRQ are the values that guest sees i.e. the values avalable under guest Device Manager.
Work is going on but with low priority.
