Seamless mode support for Multimonitor -> fixed in SVN

Description

Hi,

seemless mode is one of the biggest improvements I found over VMware workstation, but unfortuantely it only works with one monitor - but today more and more people use mutli-monitor systems (I personally use a 3 Monitor setup - with xinerama) and it would be nice if I can place application windows in seemless mode to all of them but yet the seemless mode only works in the monitor the seemless mode is started. I have no joice to drag the application to one of the other two monitors.

Thx

Ralf

I have the same problem. In my case Seamless mode only works properly when I put the VirtualBox guest window on display #1 and start Seamless mode there. With the guest window on any other display the guest's desktop window disappears but the task bar is not displayed.

I also cannot move guest windows off of display #1 when I'm in Seamless mode.

In my case this is with Virtual Box 1.5.6 on Fedora 7. I have two identical Nvidia display adapters and I'm running Nvidia's proprietary binary module. I'm using Xinerama across 4 identical displays running at 1280x1024 each.

Known limitation. We'll fix it in the future (probably 1.6).

Replying to sandervl73:

Is this changed with 1.6 ? Today I tested win2k guest on Ubuntu 8.04 and Seamless mode didn't work anymore - there is nothing - no Taskbar, nor open windows in seamless mode all is hidden and I see only the Ubuntu Desktop.

with 1.5.6 seamless mode showed up and work in one window without problem -> 1.6.0 nada

2.0.2 -> nada a shame ....

The same counts for me. I'm running Kubuntu 8.04 64bit on an Lenovo Thinkpad R60 with ATI graphics. I use the proprietary driver from ATI. I've installed VirtualBox 2.0.2 and inside a virtual Windows XP Prof. SP3 as guest. I've allocated 64MB memory for the graphics. I have a second monitor with Xinerama and Big Desktop. So screen1 (R60) has 1440x1050 and screen2 (FS) has 1680x1050. I can run seamless mode only on screen1. If I move the main VirtualBox window to screen2 and enable seamles mode there (Host+L) I don't even see the WinXP taskbar or any open WinXP application (window). I've tried setting up dual monitors inside the guest with VBoxManage and connected via RDP. With this I can use two screens but not in seamless mode. I'm only getting two big windows from the guest. But I don't like to use the RDP workaround because it looks "grotty" in a way (you know what I mean).

cheers Thomas

With the new multi monitor support in 3.2 and the fixes like in #1322 this should work.
