Alsa crash resurfaced with Ubuntu Gutsy and Virtual Box 1.5.2

Hi There -
I am using VirtualBox 1.5.2 and i notice that alsa causes problems after I start VirtualBox. Even after killing virtualbox none of my other programs (amarok etc) which want alsa work.
Steps to reproduce -
- Start virtual box Windows XP Guest with audio enabled using ALSA.
- Shutdown windows xp guest.
- Start amarok - amarok never starts but hangs.
- Start gnome sound settings and click on 'Test' and it hangs.
- Start Rhythmbox and play a song, it hangs.
Please let me know how I can further help, which log files I should attach etc.

please could you start VBox again, stop it and play an arbitrary file with strace:
and attach the resulting file aplay.log here?
