Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

My problem is that all of a sudden my virtual Windows Vista box only starts up with a blackscreen and I can't work with this virtual box any more. I can see the Windows Vista loading screen but after that ... black!

You'll find the log attached and hopefully you can help me!

So you run Windows Vista 32-bit on Windows Vista 32-bit, right ?

  1. Can you boot into safe mode ?
  1. Can you uninstall guest additions ? (Add/remove programs in VM)
  1. Can you try it on VBox 3.1.0 ?

Hi,

yes, I'm running Windows Vista 32 bit on Windows Vista 32 bit.

I've just tried to boot the VM in Safe Mode and it also resulted in the black screen. Uninstalling the VM Guest Additions is not possible as I cannot see anything (black screen). A downgrade to version 3.1.0 did also not change anything in the behaviour.

I'm having the same problem with a Vista 64-bit guest on an Ubuntu 64-bit host.

The guest seemed to be working fine until after a certain Windows update. I don't know which update did it. :-/

Try enabling VT-x for the VM. I also recommend to try out 3.1.2.

I'm having the problem in 3.1.2, and I have VT-x enabled.
