Read/write to shared folders from MS Word extremely slow

Description
Ubuntu 9.04 host, Windows XP guest. After upgrading to 3.08 read/write of .doc files in the shared folder from MS Word become extremely slow. Saving a file of ~2Mb takes up to 15 seconds. It was immediate in 2.x and 3.0.
