Red Hat Linuxes based on 2.4 kernel guests halt during kernel boot

Description
Both Red Hat Linux 9 and Fedora Core 1 systems refused to install as guests. They both halted immediately during kernel decompression, right after the boot loader.
Software: openSUSE 10.2 Linux, VirtualBox 1.3.4 Full.

Hmmm... suddenly it worked... Both RedHat Linux 9 and FC 1 !
unreproduceble.

As for Mandrake 9.2, it seems that my CD media is bad.
