Guests display do not auto-resize to window size at startup

Description (last modified by )
I'm using Windows Vista as host and Arch Linux as guest. The guest additions are installed and working, the auto-resize guest display is working just fine if I resize the window.
However, when I launch GNOME or GDM it starts at a low resolution, I need to resize the window at least once to change the resolution. This also happens to XP, when I boot my XP VM, the logon screen waiting for my password is at 640x480 and it should be filled to the size of the window. If I click "restore" and then "maximize" (the middle button between "minimize" and "close"), the guest resolution will change and fit the whole window.
Shouldn't this be happening automatically at startup/boot without having to resize the window back and forth?

Not sure about that. At least after login, the guest window should return to the size it was at before the last shutdown though. Does that actually happen?

Reading again the description I'm 99% sure that this is a duplicate: the reporter wrote " I need to resize the window at least once to change the resolution" and after "If I click "restore" and then "maximize" (the middle button between "minimize" and "close"), the guest resolution will change and fit the whole window". Like the other dups of #5372.

Could this one be considered a duplicate of http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/5372 ?
