VirtualBox is not multi-desktop friendly

Description (last modified by frank) (diff)

I run VirtualBox on a Linux host (Ubuntu 9.04, GNOME, Compiz, multi-desktop cube effect enabled). I'm running a Windows guest (though probably it doesn't matter).

The problem is that, every time the guest computer changes the video solution, VirtualBox's window is moved back to the current desktop, even if it's not the one it is being run on.

The following steps reproduce the problems:

  1. Start VirtualBox
  2. Boot the virtual machine
  3. Switch to another desktop while the virtual machine is booting
  4. Wait. At some point (whenever a resolution change is triggered during the boot), VirtualBox's window appear on the desktop you're looking at.
