No Virtualbox network drivers on host

Description
I recently installed Virtualbox 2.1.4 on a host running Windows XP, SP3. During the installation process, as expected, I saw the confirmation dialogs for installing the unsigned network driver(s). Assuming that everything was operational, I set up a guest using Debian 5.0. The guest worked fine, but I noticed that I couldn't get any network connectivity. Upon investigation, I realized that the Virtualbox network driver was not listed in my Host's device manager. I have uninstalled Virtualbox and reinstalled it, but that has not fixed the problem. Another detail: I also run VMWare Workstation ACE Edition 6.0.4. on the same host, but, needless to say, never run both VMware and Virtualbox at the same time. I really hope to find a solution to this problem, since, in my opinion, Virtualbox does a far better job running a Linux host than VMWare does.

From your description it sounds like a configuration problem to me. Have you used our forum to ask for suggestions there? Also note that reports without VBox.log are kind of useless for us.

Any new information on this issue? My 2.1.4 install on an XP SP3 box did not install any Virtualbox network drivers. My Fedora 7 guest can access the network but port forwarding from the host to the quest fails (uninstalled prior VBOX version, installed 2.1.4 and Guest Additions and turned of all firewalling). Also when I select Host Interface (to Attached to:) the host network card is grayed out rather than highlighted in blue and when the VM starts a VirtualBox - Error pops up with:
Unkown error creating VM (VERR_INTNET_FLT_IF_NOT_FOUND).
Result Code: E_FAIL (80004005) Component Console Interface: IConsole (e3c64a1-a935-47ca-b16d-f9e9c496e53e
Question is does 2.4.1 require new network drivers to support the host interface?

Update - after uninstalling/reinstalling 2.1.4 for the third time and verifying that the VirtualBox Host Interface Networking Driver Miniport was installed both port forwarding and "Host Interface" are working. The trouble was in the Fedora 7 firewall.

I meant to say Linux *guest* in the last line listed above.
