VB detects my USB devices but doesn't make them available

Description

This issue has been published on user forums but I couldn't get proper help, that's why I come here.

Starting from scratch with a fresh install of Ubunty 8.04 (hardy) 64-bit and VirtualBox 2.0.2 with Win XP SP3 and following all guidelines on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VirtualBox#USB I've still been unable to get USB to work on VB's virtual machine.

My USB is set as follows:

VB detects USB devices connected to the hardware but it doesn't make them available. On the virtual machine's menu bar, opening Devices / USB Devices it shows all of them but the items are grayed out.

As I said, no one on user forums was able to bring me a tip or something that helped me to solve the issue.

I thank you in advance for your attention.

Issue has been solved: the Group ID from VBOX wasn't in the USBFS-Entry. Please disconsider this ticket. Thanks.

But, if I can make you a suggestion, try to make VB for Linux so easy to use as it is on the Mac OS X environment. It was just ready to use with all its funcionality (USB included) right after the install was done. No need of reading any manual or FAQ of any kind nor asking for help anywhere. It just works.

Thanks!

I'm afraid that's to be expected with Linux. Dealing with all the different distro's is no simple task.
