Keyboard layout not recognized in KDE4.1.1 but works fine in KDE 3.5.9 — at Version 2

I run Virtualbox w/o problems in KDE 3.5.9 using keuboard layout US, and the virtual machine receives keys like ', and ".
If I run it from kde4, no matter which keyboard layout I choose (us, us_intl, sp, latam) those keys doesn't get to the VM. (They work as they should in console and different other programs.
