Panic in 6.1.28 attempting to boot minix3 ISO cdrom image

Description
Downloaded minix3 cdrom image. Created empty machine in VBox, mounting .iso as IDE and set machine to boot from IDE.
Immediate panic
"Kernel drive no installed (rc=1908) Make sure the kernel module has been loaded successfully where suplibOsInit what:3 VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (-1908) - The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT"
Installed Parallels, and was immediately successful in installing and configuring Minix3. (Implying the .iso image is not defective).
