RCDMan, others failing in VBoxOGLpackspu.dll

Description

Windows 10 host, Windows 10 guest (both are version 1703, OS Build 15063.608)

Since upgrading to 5.1.28 on Sep 14, I am unable to use MS remote desktop to connect to other systems. Previously this worked without issue. I've tried with both the normal Remote Desktop application and with the Remote Desktop Connection Manager utility.

When reviewing the Event Viewer in the guest OS, I see failures for RDCMan.exe (for example), and the failures all occur in VBoxOGLpackspu.dll.

Example:

Faulting application name: RDCMan.exe, version: 2.7.1406.0, time stamp: 0x5318e66b
Faulting module name: VBoxOGLpackspu.dll, version: 5.1.28.17968, time stamp: 0x59b8f746
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000004966f
Faulting process id: 0x3bc
Faulting application start time: 0x01d32da86ecb25aa
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Remote Desktop Connection Manager\RDCMan.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\VBoxOGLpackspu.dll
Report Id: 18a879ea-4fc5-47cd-9a49-16048e808e58
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

As I look through the Event Viewer, I see a number of other apps/programs failing, and all in the same DLL (VBoxOGLpackspu.dll) at the same fault offset.

For example:

Faulting application name: SearchUI.exe, version: 10.0.15063.332, time stamp: 0x591fdafc
Faulting module name: VBoxOGLpackspu.dll, version: 5.1.28.17968, time stamp: 0x59b8f746
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000004966f
Faulting application name: LogonUI.exe, version: 10.0.15063.0, time stamp: 0xccf07184
Faulting module name: VBoxOGLpackspu.dll, version: 5.1.28.17968, time stamp: 0x59b8f746
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000004966f
Faulting application name: consent.exe, version: 10.0.15063.0, time stamp: 0xe0f856c4
Faulting module name: VBoxOGLpackspu.dll, version: 5.1.28.17968, time stamp: 0x59b8f746
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000004966f

Finally, I find that I'm not able to start programs in Administrator mode.

For instance, when I try to run the Command Prompt in Administrator mode (right-click, Run As Administrator), I get the UAC prompt, and then get an error box saying: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe File system error (-1073741819) (I believe this may be related to the above error in "consent.exe")

I've attempted to re-install the 5.1.28 Guest Additions but when I try to run them, I also get a UAC prompt but then nothing further happens (though I do see another Event Viewer entry for "consent.exe").

Log file attached.

Disabling 3D Acceleration fixes. Reverting guest additions to 5.1.26 also fixes it.

Thanks - the 3D acceleration approach worked. I couldn't install the 5.1.26 additions since I couldn't escalate my user privileges.
