Yes, I installed the additions. Dynamic resizing support and mouse autocapture/release works fine.

Just to be clear here, the shared clipboard uses Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C style copy and paste, not the old X11 middle-button-click style.

Yes. Actually, the problem might be more subtle. Freshly booted, the Linux guest does not interact with the host clipboard. Copying and pasting within the Linux guest works fine, but the clipboard is not transferred to the Mac host (which retains its clipboard information from before booting the guest). However, once something is copied in the Mac host, things start working normally, and the clipboard contents are transferred bidirectionally.

Please reopen if the clipboard still does not work for you with VirtualBox 2.2.0. Please make sure to upgrade your guest additions.

The forums are rife with this problem on all platforms.
For me personally, the shared clipboard does not work between my XP vm and Macbook Pro (snow leopard) host, but in general it seems to be the single weakest part of the system.
This ticket should never have been closed.

Sorry, I should have said I am running VirtualBox 3.1.4, downloaded yesterday.

So did you install the additions? Without them the shared clipboard will not work of course.
