Microphone stops working after resuming a virtual machine

Hello, Everyone!

It seems that a microphone stops working after resuming (from pause) a virtual machine.

It is worth noting that I am using the «ICH AC97» audio controller, because it is imposible to use the «Intel HD Audio» one (see the comment: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/14386#comment:81).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Scenario

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start a virtual machine.
  2. Check the microphone. It should work properly.
  3. Pause the virtual machine.
  4. Wait for 5 seconds.
  5. Resume the virtual machine.

Actual result: Microphone is working.

Expected result: Microphone is not working.

Context

Hardware

Virtual machine settings:

  • CPU: 4 processors (of 8 processors in total), 80% execution cap.
  • RAM: 8192 Mb.
  • Audio:

Software

  • VirtualBox: 5.1.22 r115126.
  • Host OS: macOS 10.12.4 (16E195).
  • Guest OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Standard 10.0.14393 N/A Build 14393 x64.

Actual result: Microphone is working.

Expected result: Microphone is not working.

Additional information

This piece of advice, https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/14386#comment:82, has helped me enable the microphone the «Intel HD Audio» controller.

The defect is reproduced with the «Intel HD Audio» controller too.

Does the issue still persist with the latest version of VirtualBox?
