Choppy sound on host after starting VM

Description
This only happens to me on a Windows 7 host, and at least using an Ubuntu 12.04 x64 VM (not tested with other VMs). But it does not happen with an Ubuntu host.
When I am starting my VM, and after it actually boots, I hear a piano-like sound (one key only). After that sound, all sounds on both the host and the VM are very choppy. I have to disable and re-enable my sound card for the choppyness to disappear.
This piano-like sound only happens on boot, once, sometimes twice, but that's it. Not sure how I can help identify / repro this in more detail.

@frank, that installer apparently misses a file and fails to install. Have added the log file.
[Edit: nevermind, the issue was on my end. Will try that build and let you know.]

Not fixed in the new build either. I get the piano sound right before the login screen in Ubuntu.
