Named pipe using 8250 raw

Description
I have a Windows 7 Host and a Windows XP Guest. My software runs in MSDOS mode (16 bit seg/off mode). It accesses the 8250 directly (i.e. it does not use int 10). It has been running since the early 90's on DOS6.22 and on Windows XP. I am now trying to get it to use the named pipe. I have been successful using a named pipe with VmWare but I can't get Virtual Box to output readable text. The guest end does receive input correctly. It also echos the typed characters correctly but full lines output as garbage. The app uses 7E1 at 57600 BAUD. If I use HyperTerminal(on guest side)-to-pipe(on host side), it works (but then that is only at human typing speed).

VBox.2.log is the same as VBox.log ... my computer was so slow I didn't think it took the click and I clicked again. I Don't see a "remove" button.
Also, note that when I said INT 10 above that was a mistake, I should have said INT 14.
I have tried just about every experiment I can think of. If there is some other experiment you want me to run just say so.
I'm not in a hurry anymore because I just use VmWare instead.
