Traffic on Host-Only network crashes OSX host

Reported by: dconlon Owned by:
Priority: critical Component: network/hostif
Version: VirtualBox 4.1.8 Keywords:
Cc: Guest type: Linux
Host type: Mac OS X

Description (last modified by frank) (diff)

Host: OSX Lion, 10.7.2 Guest: Linux Ubuntu 11.10 fully updated as of 22nd December 2011, with latest vboxadditions installed

With a host-only adapter in the guest, issuing the command

ssh user@

in the guest causes the host to crash with a screen of death.

This happens every time and is completely reproducible on my setup.

Interestingly pinging the address is successful.

Did you test this with any older of version of VBox. Just asking to find out if this could be a regression.

:-) First time I've been asked to reproduce a bug with an older version of the software.

The problem does exists with 4.1.6 too. I upgraded before raising the bug.

Is there any additional information I can provide?

  • Description modified (diff)

Please do another test with VirtualBox 4.1.22. We fixed a bug which might be related to the crashes you saw.
