I'm not a Windows expert but COM is the 'original' and XPCOM is
an emulation of the original. AFAIK, COM on Windows is faster than
XCOM on non-Windows hosts and COM has probably less bugs. And it
would be a notable effort for us to port XPCOM to Windows which we
would rather investigate to fix bugs and implement new features.
