Description

Hello Everyone,

I have been trying to install Virtualbox on Fedora since 8 days (till date) asking in the IRC community of vbox as well as Fedora to search a solution to my problem. Some said that my pc (host) had guest additions installed and no one could actually sort out the acually problem.

I keep getting an error which you may look up at http://imagebin.org/74719

I am putting down some information which might help you understand my error

Fedora :- Fedora 12 i386

Kernel Version :- 2.6.31.6-162.fc12.i686

VirtualBox Ver :- VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.0_55467_fedora12-1.i686

DKMS Installed Ver :- dkms-2.1.0.1-1.fc12.noarch

After running /etc/init.d/vboxdrv as root

Error Output : (Cannot create device /dev/vboxdrv with major 10 and minor 57)

dmesg O/P : http://pastebin.com/f36b98466

And Exact Command Line Procedure I followed while doing this :-

Do NOT install the guest additions at the host, this is nonsense.

Please could you post the output of /bin/ls -l /dev/vboxdrv after you tried to execute /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup? Do you have udev installed? I assume yes because this is a standard package and it does not make sense to remove it but I want to be sure.
