Excessive messages generated by vboxwebsrv

Reported by: sergeroz Owned by:
Priority: minor Component: webservices
Version: VirtualBox 4.1.0 Keywords: vboxwebsrv log
Cc: Guest type: other
Host type: Linux

Description (last modified by aeichner) (diff)

vboxwebsrv that is run by /etc/init.d/vboxweb-service writes 2 logs to /var/log/messages for every successfull authentication attempt:

Aug 3 17:05:15 fserver vboxwebsrv: pam_sm_authenticate: Called
Aug 3 17:05:15 fserver vboxwebsrv: pam_sm_authenticate: username = [vbox]

This leads to flooding of /var/log/messages, especially when vboxwebsrv is used by phpVirtualbox.

Suggested fix: log only failed authentication attempts by default, OR allow user to specify different log facility/priority.
