#9367 closed defect (obsolete)
Excessive messages generated by vboxwebsrv
Reported by: | Serge | Owned by:

Component: | webservices | Version: | VirtualBox 4.1.0 |
Keywords: | vboxwebsrv log | Cc:
Guest type: | other | Host type: | Linux |
Description (last modified by )
vboxwebsrv that is run by /etc/init.d/vboxweb-service writes 2 logs to /var/log/messages for every successfull authentication attempt:
Aug 3 17:05:15 fserver vboxwebsrv: pam_sm_authenticate: Called Aug 3 17:05:15 fserver vboxwebsrv: pam_sm_authenticate: username = [vbox]
This leads to flooding of /var/log/messages, especially when vboxwebsrv is used by phpVirtualbox.
Suggested fix: log only failed authentication attempts by default, OR allow user to specify different log facility/priority.
