#8622 closed defect (obsolete)

in Fullscreen mode display is not updated

Reported by: atharvai Owned by:
Component: GUI Version: VirtualBox 4.0.4
Keywords: fullscreen Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

For Windows 7 64-bit Host OS, VirtualBox has a issue with Fullscreen mode. Tested with Ubuntu 10.10 and Joli OS. When the VM is switched to fullscreen mode, the resolution of the guest OS's display is adjusted however, after this the display is not updated. So clicking on the menu will open the menu but will not show in full screen. A test scenario is in Ubuntu, while on the desktop (in fullscreen mode) clicking the "Applications" menu, this doesn't show the menu. then exiting full screen mode, shows the menu open but not in fullscreen mode.

Do you happen to have a Windows guest you can test this with? Just in case you might upload a log file from a VM run where this occurs.

not sure what you mean. I don't have a Windows Guest to test with, but is it not possible to generate a log file for a Linux host?

Sorry, those were two separate things (testing with a Windows guest and uploading a log file).

If you are using 3D acceleration in the guest, please also check whether disabling it has an effect.

Replying to michael:

Disabling 3D acceleration does solve it, however, as expected video performance goes down. Not an ideal solution. Usually I require using both Ubuntu and Windows 7 simultaneously requiring 3D acceleration. I hope there will be a fix for this in the near future. I remember in older versions of VBox it was possible with 3D acceleration. Thanks
