External hard drive no longer works after trying to access it on VirtualBox

Description
I tried to open my external hard drive on VirtualBox and it froze, so I ended the task and then I tried to go to it from Windows Explorer, and it no longer is listed there.

That is expected. I assume your external drive is an USB device. If you pass that device into the guest then the guest will access it as raw device and the device will be not available for the host anymore. After removing the drive from the VM, it should be available for the host again.
