Re the clipboard contents, did you enable the shared clipboard for that guest, and did you try the clipboard (Ctrl-C, ctrl-V) in the host, rather than the middle-mouse-button X11 cut and paste?

Is that folder really writable with your user id on the host?

Clipboard contents are enabled. Using Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V is of no help; I can't move clipboard contents from guest to host.

The folder in question is indeed writable on host.

Host bootlog shows following message: "Failed to create the interface vbox0 for <userid>". Could there be a problem with the way the program is installed on host?

Also, is the shared clipboard enabled for that guest, and does the guest have an up-to-date version of the guest additions on it? And have you tried with version 1.5.2 of VirtualBox?

Yes to all questions.

Try again with 1.6.0 and report back if it's still relevant. Thanks.
