Description
Linux guest unstable when using more than one CPU Tried on Fedora 13, attosid, ubuntu 10.4.1 I've got Phenom II x4 (hardware support for virtualization and nested pages are on). Host 2008 R2 (with all latest updates), HyperV disabled(not installed). When launching a program(any program) system can become unresponsive(except mouse). When guest runs on 1 CPU it's stable... VirtualBox tools are not installed (using LiveCD), when are installed - no change in stability.

Try turning off 2d & 3d in the guest settings and switch to a different storage controller. This helps to eliminate possible problem areas.

The same here. Tried with 3.2.12 and OSE too, with Ubuntu Meerkat and Debian Squeeze. If i give more than one CPUs, if the CPU load goes up, the guest goes unusable. I can see disk and net activity, and for a time i can move / close window, but it's unresponsive. Log attached, freezed in the middle of Debian Squeeze install with 4 CPUs of 8.

Please reopen if still relevant with VBox 4.1.4. Especially the releases 4.0.10 and 4.1.0 include some fixes which could be related to your problem.
Please upload VBox Log.
