I had the same problem. I used VBox 3.1.6 in bridged network, then at May 27 upgraded for 3.2.0, my system crash during all day May 28, after 15-20 min. my server isn't reachable. According to experience of xstrem2005 with VBox 3.1.8 everything is fine, then I roll back to version 3.1.8 and my system is fine too.

This ticket can be closed, since this issue is fixed with version 3.2.2 (http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/6824) Thank you!
I have the same issue on Windows XP as host system. It seems, that the host system run out of resources, if a VM (with bridged network device) is active and there is a lot of network traffic to/from the host system. After some time, the hosts network is no more accessible and the task manager can't be opened. When I close the VM, the network is accessible again and the task manager works.
