VBoxHeadless VRDP reconnect problem

Reported by: Synventics Owned by:
Component: RDP Version: VirtualBox 3.1.4
Keywords: VBoxHeadless short-term VRDP-reconnect Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Linux

Description

Here there!

We are using an Intel Xeon 5504 dual CPU server with 12 GB RAM running Debian 5.0.4. We've installed the Lenny AMD64 DEB file without any problems.

The server runs 10 VBoxHeadless machines with WinXP pro SP3 guests simultaneously -- in principle without any problems. Terminals connect via the VBox VRDP client on linux machines running Lenny 5.0.4 as well. Sound and USB redirection works well.

The hereby reported bug affects the reconnection to the VMs after shutting down the specific machine by "VBoxManage controlvm XXX poweroff" command. The bug does NOT occur if the machine is powered down by the guest operation system via ACPI.

If the actual machines is repowered within a timespan of approx. 60 seconds, it is not possible to reestablish the RDP connection from any client, VBox rdesktop adaption as well as an the MS Windows rdp client.

Repowering the machines after a timeout of at least 60 seconds avoids the problem.

The machines are configured as follows:

VRDP enabled, MultiConn on, ReuseSingleConn off, Authetication off

Do you have any glue how to solve or avoid this problem?

Thanks!

Please attach VBox.log of the VM with a failed reconnect attempt.
