@IBBoard: Just for my understanding: Do you also get BSODs when using SMB shares without the \vboxsrv path? Please do the following: Deactivate the "WebClient" service via Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, reboot the guest and do your SMB access again (which caused the BSOD).

Nevertheless, we gonna release a new version of VirtualBox soon, which also contains a lot of bugfixes for the Shared Folders service.

  • Ticket #57 – Description

    initial v109
1 I am using the following configuration:
    2
    3 -- Linux 2.6.18 host
4 -- VirtualBox 1.3.4 (bug also present in VirtualBox 1.3.2)
    5 -- Windows XP guest
    6 -- shared folder of 300 GB, >10000 files, >1000 folders
    7 -- FAR Manager
    8
9 When browsing the shared folder with FAR Manager (just changing folders), the Windows XP randomly dies with a blue screen of death. The same happens when copying a multi-gigabyte file. Never made it to copy the first GB -- the blue screen of death struck earlier.
    10
11 I think this is a bug in VirtualBox, because I was able to share the same folder with VMWare.
