  1. Install VirtualBox 3.0
  2. Install linux in virtualbox
  3. Try to copy a file from the linux guest to the host with shared folders (folder does not show up in guest)
  4. Try again with a USB device (it says it copied but it did not)

The description is still not sufficient. There is no VBox.log file for such a session. If you set up shared folders then you have to mount them inside the guest, this is described in the user manual. And your last point sounds weird. Copying from/to a USB device normally works. Same with network: How was your network setup and how did you access the network? If you are using NAT then the guest can access the host through 10.0.2.2 but the host needs to run proper services of course, for instance a NFS server or a Samba server on Linux hosts.

Feel free to reopen this ticket if you can provide more information but PLEASE consult the user manual. And please go to the forums for asking questions. This bugtracker is for reporting bugs.

Found a work around of using a floppy drive.
