#5427 closed defect (fixed)

Windows 7 64bit host, guest GUI crashes during file transfer => Fixed in SVN/3.1.2

Reported by: Cody Craven Owned by:
Component: network/NAT Version: VirtualBox 3.0.10
Keywords: ftp windows nat Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

Running Windows 7 64bit as host operating system. Fedora 11 x86 as guest.

When uploading a large number for files from the guest system to a remote server the VirtualBox GUI crashes. I have been using FileZilla as my guest's FTP client via a NAT network connection.

Occasionally this issue has also caused my Guest Additions to become uninstalled upon reboot and require re-installation, but I am not sure if this is related.

There appears to be a small number of users who have encountered this same issue on the forums. One of them reported using a Windows Vista guest.

Happnes for me too Host: Windows 7 64bit, Guest: Windows 7 64bit

Any prolonged FTP (passive) upload either using FileZilla or DreamWeaver crashes the VBox GUI.

This occurs with my guests too. Both running Windows 7 32-bit and Windows XP 32-bit. I have the problem after multiple small file uploads (i.e. web site maintenance) where the VBox crashes. Using FileZilla, LeechFTP as clients on both Windows 7 and XP.

Just confirming problem on different host/guest combination

Win XP x64 SP2 fully patched host Win XP x64 SP2 fully patched guest

Filezilla 3.3.0.1 and FireFTP 1.06 (Firefox 3.5.5 add-on) both exhibit the same issue; will transfer some files (sometimes over 200, sometimes 5) and then guest aborts. Same set-up on host works without issue.

Does it happens on 3.1 for you?

comment:7 by Michael Marchuk, 14 years ago

Yes, on Vista64 host with Windows 7 (32-bit) and Windows XP (32-bit) guests it still crashes using both FileZilla as well as LeechFTP. I have noticed it most often after sending single files. After 4-16 times of sending a small file it will crash.

I am on VirtualBox v3.1.0 r55467

Did anyone test the packages which were provided above? Do you still see this crash?
