Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Windows |
Description
Host: Vista Business 64 SP2 Mem: 8192 MB
Guest: SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 OS Type: Other Linux Base Memory: 2048 MB VT-x: Enabled PAE/NX: Disabled Video Memory 32 MB 3D Acceleration: Enabled IDE: PIIX4 Additional SCSI: (BusLogic) with one Virtual HDD
After configuring installation options and saving them it proceeds with installation, first cd is inserted, starts copying packets to hard drive and then VirtualBox GUI crashes. Windows report error as: "GUI stopped responding and was closed". Even though VM is still running as cd-rom drive spins and hdd is accessed, but i am unable to connect to failed session as state of VM in VitualBox is "Aborted".
Windows event manager also records:
Faulting application VirtualBox.exe, version 3.0.6.0, time stamp 0x4aa7eccd, faulting module VBoxVMM.dll, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4aa7ec75, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000088e14, process id 0x14e8, application start time 0x01ca3877044e89f5.

When disabled VT-x GUI crashed less often.
Also tried with kernel boot parameters APM = Off, ACPI = On and setup VirtualBox with VT-x = Disabled, 3D Accel. = Off and reverted HDD to IDE (as emulated BusLogic detection was unreliable by running kernel when VM has been restarted few times, only host reboot helped kernel recognize BusLogic again).
Anyway install went OK with above options, but without BusLogic and VT-x, but installed system didn't boot even with: ide=nodma apm=off acpi=off vga=normal disableapic maxcpus=0.
VM stays indefinitely in "Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting kernel." and nothing happens.
Hard to tell what causes GUI crashes as there are also probable tons of Bugs in original install set for SuSE EL8.

I don't see any evidence of a crash in the log file. Looks like it was closed normally. Try again with 3.0.8 please and attach another log if it occurs again.
