Clipboard / VBoxSharedClipboardClass blocks -> fixed in SVN/1.5.2

Reported by: Christian d'Heureuse Owned by:

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

I'm working with WinXP host and guest OSs.

Normally the clipboard works between host and guest, but sometimes when I copy something in the host and want to paste it in the guest, the application program in the guest (MS-Access) blocks.

When shutting down the guest OS, an error message appears saying that VBoxSharedClipboardClass does not respond.

I can't reproduce this error. It only occurs once every few hours.

Host: WinXP Guest: WinXP VirtualBox v1.5.0

I am experiencing exactly the same symptom. If I try to copy text from host to OpenOffice.org wordprocessor then the OpenOffice.org application blocks.

Manually terminating the wordprocessor process does not correct the situation. When try to shutdown the guest (Start button>Shutdown) the guest OS just sits there waiting for a process to terminate...finally get message "VBoxSharedClipboardClass does not respond".

If I manually terminate the GuestAdditions process (which contains the thread VBoxSharedClipboardClass), then guest OS will shutdown normally.

This issue, problems with Shared Folders, and non-functioning CAPS LOCK are currently the three most frustrating aspects of VB for me. I hope we are able to resolve these soon.

Kind regards,

laser

This just occurred for me with a Windows XP SP3 guest. (VBox 2.1.2)

I also got the error message when logging off, saying that VBoxSharedClipboardClass doesn't respond. Shortly thereafter, on the host OS, the clipboard doesn't work at all anymore (while the guest still runs that is).

On a ubuntu x32 host and WinXPSP3 guest; when I get the error "VBoxSharedClipboardClass does not respond" , I can not able to shutdown the guest. I force xkill to shut it. Also before the error message appears, guest OS starts to hang.

Hi,

I'm running version 3.1.4 on ubuntu intrepid. This problem occurs randomly when I try to open matlab 2007b on XP. It refuses to launch and when I try to shutdown, I have the message about VBoxSharedClipboardClass that blocks. If I hit "kill", then immediately, the matlab window pops up, but just after it is killed again and the system shut down.

Regards,

I'm experiencing this problem with an Arch Linux 64-bit host running VBox 4.3.14. Guest is 32-bit XP. It's semi-reproducible when I open SQL Server 2000 Query Analyzer. After pressing the login button, a blank query window opens and it usually hangs at that point, but not every time. If I reboot, I get the message about vboxsharedclipboardclass not responding.
