Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

This looks like perhaps a GNOME issue, but I thought I'd make you aware. (note, I did not find anything similar in the forums, apologies in advance if it's a duplicate issue).

After updating from 3.0.4 to 3.0.6, the kernel and all modules appear to load properly. I'm presented with the Fedora 11 login screen (not slim). After entering password and attempting to load GNOME DE, the system attempts to load the DE, but pops me right back to the login screen.

I AM able to successfully load LXDE.

So, like I said, looks like a possible GNOME issue, but this is the behavior I'm experiencing after the VBox update. I'm attaching /var/log/messages relevant to this.

I'm using kernel 2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i586 btw.

Looks like this very much is a GNOME issue. Even after downgrade to 3.0.4, GNOME won't load. FUN! Time to reinstall gnome and see if this fixes the issue.....and then re-upgrade VBox.

I'm able to open GNOME/openbox. Looks like this is perhaps an issue with OpenGL & Desktop Effects. =(

I'm able to run GNONE DE and VBox 3.0.6 as long as Desktop Effects are disabled.

Not sure if it's tied to the new use of OpenGL by VBox, but it might be worth looking into.
