Wacom Tablet at guest with linux driver and not working with mouse integration

Reported by: Luis Palacios Owned by:

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

Hi, I would like to update on ticket "Ticket #1597", a difference I've found. In my case I have Guest Windows 7 (same happens with Vista or XP). Tablet: Wacom Intuos3 (USB device)

1) When linux wacom driver is loaded: With the wacom module loaded in Linux and windows as guest, it won't load the tablet:

Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_READ_ERROR). Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE 0x80004005 Component: Console Interface: IConsole {0a51994b-cbc6-4686-94eb-d4e4023280e2}

NEW INFORMATION: However, If I keep trying it finally connects (typically once every three trys)

2) The second problem is the same: Wacom not fully working with mouse integration active, it has to be disable with Ctrl-I in order to behave as expected.

Also note that I'm running VirtualBox version 3.0.6.

If you could provide information about roadmap on this issue it will be really appreciated.

Thanks Luis

Well, am I correct that you are trying to pass the Wacom tablet to the guest? Please don't do that if the device is used by the host, otherwise the host is not able to use the device anymore. OTOH, if this is the intention then passing the device to the guest should work. A VBox.log file of such a session (where you try to pass the device) is appreciated.

Hi, thank you for your answer.

My intention is what you mention. Use it at the host while the VM is not running and then I don't mind if Host can't use it when the VM starts. This is working but only 1 every 3 times, and never when the VM starts, only retrying afterwards. I'm attaching the VBox.log from a Guest boot session where you'll find the error.

Thanks,

Luis

Have the same problem. After guest started and I can see WinXP desktop I am pressing to mount USB tablet. It fails with "Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device". Try again - failed again. Try once again - mounts and works fine. Here are last lines of VBox.log:
