Description
Employing the method of creating a virtual disk via the raw vmdk method to attempt to boot XP from my Boot Camp partition,
I execute the following:
- Unmount/eject the Boot Camp disk from the desktop.
- Change permissions to 777 on /dev/disk0*
- Execute in Terminal:
VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -rawdisk /dev/disk0 -filename XPraw.vmdk -partitions 1,3
- Import the disk into VB using Virtual Media Manager, then use it as the boot disk for a new virtual machine.
- Attempt to boot. The result is
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.
