Description (last modified by )
If one attempts to make changes (e.g., installing a new piece of software) to a virtual machine after taking a snapshot that cause the virtual disks to exceed the amount of space available, VirtualBox crashes completely. The virtual machine must be discarded and rebuilt from scratch.
Details: Failed to discard the current state of the virtual machine Primary (WITHOUT Multimedia or USB). Could not create the differencing hard disk storage unit '/media/truecrypt1/VirtualBox_Ubuntu/Machines/Primary (WITHOUT Multimedia or USB)/Snapshots/{ece717b6-6092-45f0-ab83-8fb1d6a48c74}.vdi'. VDI: writing pre-header failed for '/media/truecrypt1/VirtualBox_Ubuntu/Machines/Primary (WITHOUT Multimedia or USB)/Snapshots/{ece717b6-6092-45f0-ab83-8fb1d6a48c74}.vdi' (VERR_DISK_FULL).

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
Sorry, in my haste I mis-spoke: VirtualBox does not crash completely, the virtual machine does.
