What did you do exactly? You installed that package and you didn't have any previous VirtualBox package installed previously? And there was not directory ~/.VirtualBox? Is the home directory located on a special partition?

  1. Delete .VirtualBox directory
  2. Install the new package
  3. Run VirtualBox
  4. Error message appeares

There is no special configuration. I only have 1 partition, that contains /home

Still no idea what happenend in your case. Host disk full? Is the problem still current with the latest release (VBox 3.0.8)?

Doesn't happen with current version (3.0.8). You can close it.
