Mac OS Kernel Panic when running VMware Fusion and Virtual Box virtual machines simultaneously

Reported by: kimmo Owned by:
Component: host support Version: VirtualBox 2.2.2
Keywords: mac os x kernel panic vm vmware fusion virtual box Cc:
Guest type: other Host type: Mac OS X

Description

Mac os X kernel panic occurs when I initialize both of virtual machines same time, VMware Fusion and Virtual Box. I tested with two different Macs. Both Mac OS X 10.5.6 and 10.5.7. It is like instant, when running vmware fusion, and then initializing also virtual box, mac os x kernel panic is happening instantly. When running only one virtual machine at time, no kernel panics. Only when running those two same time. I am not tested with parallels. Virtual Box is 2.2.2 and VMware Fusion is 2.0.2. You can demo that with free VMware Fusion demo, from VMwares homepage. Later I might upload logs, because it happens every time. It does not depends guest operating system. I must only initialize both virtual machines.

Replying to sandervl73:

The manual explicitly warns against doing this.

Why?

VT-x isn't really suited well for running multiple hypervisors at the same time, I guess.

It's explained in the manual. Why not read it first?
