Wacom Bamboo tablet no longer works under versions of Suse more recent than 10.3

Under Suse 10.3 I was able to get a Wacom Bamboo tablet working in a Windows XP/SP3 guest system by disabling mouse integration. The tablet no longer works under either Suse 11 or 11.1 preventing me from upgrading my host system if I want to use the tablet. Windows reports that all elements of the tablet are working BUT simply refuses to respond to either the Wacom mouse or pen. This has been the case for all versions of VBox since 2.04.
