RHEL 3 fails to boot on OSX host

Reported by: Matt Hyclak Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 2.0.2

Guest type: Linux Host type: Mac OS X

Description

RHEL 3 installs fine on an OSX 10.5.5 on a Macbook (2.2GHz Core 2 Duo) running VirtualBox 2.0.2. When trying to boot, it gets to

Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.

then VirtualBox crashes, indicating a critical error has occurred. I've attached the log files. I was really hoping I would be able to run RHEL 3 on this box so I can do some testing.

Just an update: the standard kernel boots, it is only the SMP kernel that crashes.

I can live with a UP kernel, I don't know if this issue is worth tracking down for future support.

Please update to at least VBox 2.2.4 (or VBox 3.0.4). Then enable PAE for this guest as the SMP kernel requires PAE support. Reopen this ticket if that still does not work.
