Description
- Arch Linux x86 32 bit;
- kernel-2.6.26;
- vbox-2.02.
When i try start the VM - virtual box failed to start the virtual machine, error:
VirtualBox kernel driver not installed. The vboxdrv kernel module was either not loaded or /dev/vboxdrv was not created for some reason. Re-setup the kernel module by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root. VBox status code: -4 (VERR_INVALID_HANDLE).

Kernel module vboxdrv is loaded, curent user added in group vboxusers, file /etc/init.d/vboxdrv is not found.

Same error here. I did try to copy and run /etc/init.d/vboxdrv from my fedora install that has Virtualbox 2.0.2 and run it. It says "/etc/init.d/vboxdrv: line 255: /usr/share/virtualbox/src/build_in_tmp: No such file or directory"

gsreekatnan: Apparently you either mixed two versions of VirtualBox or the OSE package you installed is broken. We don't provide binaries for the OSE version so I don't know the package you installed. The OSE packages for Linux normally depend on another package providing the kernel vboxdrv module.

The solution for me was to make sure I was running the right version of VirtualBox. I had downloaded, but not installed, the latest version. Once I installed the latest version, things worked as planned.
