Vbox 7.1.6 on Arm Mac won't adjust resolution and screen size doesn't adjust Linux VM windows environment

Description
I just switched from an x86 to Arm-based Mac (M3 Pro) and Oracle Linux 8 VMs aren't resolution adjustable. In addition, adjusting the VM window size to fit the adjust the Linux desktop environment to fit the adjust window size.
When adjusting the resolution, the Linux dock flickers, but nothing really happens with the resolution. Resolution seems to be locked at 1280x800.
I'll attach a screen shot of what the VM window looks like when maximized.
I have tried both the QemuRamFB and VMSVGA graphics controllers as well as 3D Accelaration and adjusting video memory. Guest additions are installed as USB and shared folders work.

I am unable to upload my screen as it's 1.3MB in size. Basically, there's just a grey ring of unusable space around the original Linux desktop size.
