VirtualBox Mac OS M1 - Not Starting with more than 3 disks

Reported by: leolopes Owned by:
Component: virtual disk Version: VirtualBox-7.1.4
Keywords: Cc: leolopes
Guest type: Linux Host type: Mac OS X

Description

Hi,

While adding more than 3 virtual disks (doesn't matter the type: vdi, vmdk and etc.), the system boot the VM for the first time, we can see the disks at OS side.

However, while shutdown or rebooting, the VM crashes:

Symptoms:

  • Changing the VM state from 'RUNNING' to 'GURU_MEDITATION'

Operating system:

  • MacOS M1 15.0.1 (24A348).

VirtualBox Version: 7.1.3 and 7.1.4

Even after removing the fourth disk, the VM doesn't start.

But, if restore a snapshot to a point before adding the fourth disk, the VM start back. But we still facing the issue if we add the fourth disk.

Since I'm able to reproduce the issue as I wish, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I can provide further details based on your guidance.

Regards, Leo
