system panic with host interfaces on opensolaris 2008.11 snv_95 and snv_96 => Fixed in 2.0.2

Reported by: mytux Owned by:
Priority: blocker Component: network
Version: VirtualBox 2.0.0 Keywords: host interface
Cc: Guest type: Solaris
Host type: Solaris

Description

With svn_95 the virtual host did a panic every time I powered on the virtual host. On snv_96, it works once. After a power cycle of the guest, it panics again. I am using VB 2.0.0 on a x86 system. In the messages file I can see this:

Thanks for the stack trace. This is being addressed at the moment (literally) and will most likely be fixed within the next update.

comment:2 Changed 6 years ago by mytux

Do you know when this update is coming out?

comment:3 Changed 6 years ago by frank

Scheduled for this week.

I recognized also that Networking in general is not working correctly for solaris guests. I went back to VB 1.6.6 using vnics for host interfaces. On VB 2.0.0 I could not jumpstart my guest OS with Sol 10u5. It was failing on the nfs mount during network boot. With VB 1.6.6 this works like a charm.

Should I open another ticket for that? Or is this also solved with the next version?

  • Summary changed from system panic with host interfaces on opensolaris 2008.11 snv_95 and snv_96 to system panic with host interfaces on opensolaris 2008.11 snv_95 and snv_96 => Fixed in 2.0.2

@mytux: Could you wait until you tried the next version as some internal testing with the fixed network filter revealed NFS shares working on the host again but I'm not sure if this is completely related to your problem. And I could not reproduce any NFS issues here locally.

So I suggest before opening a new ticket you try the next version due out this week.
